I updated XP pro to SP2 today all seemed well. I have done some work and a backup.

But I noticed that I am having an intermittant system FREEZE or Lock-UP related to the explorer in the task manager.

Senario is Goto MY computer, on the Left side of the screen toward the bottom is a link for Control Pannel. If I click on this link, I will clear all information out of the open window, and the system will just stop. I can goto task manager, and I have tried unloading eash item one at a time, and the explorer.exe is the one. Now note that once the system freezes this window, I can still do a shutdown and restart and the system will come up with only a windows restart showing in the event log.

Any suggestions.

Thanks a bunch.

Bill

Whether Explorer is your problem or not it is hard to say.

I would look at third party drivers and software.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).
