Some days ago I bought the DI-514 ROUTER Ver. B1 but I have had problems when I tried to connect it; then, I just want to ask you for some help to fix my problems.
First of all, I have two network cards, one that comes normally with the computer and the other that I bought together with the router (DWL-520 802.11 wireless PCI Adapter); my OS is Windows XP and I have an ISP.
I will make some questions to clear my confusion and doubts (I am somewhat new in this field):

Is it not a problem having two cards to access the web-based configuration? or Do I have to deactive the card comes with pc?

When I've got to configure, should I have the cable comes from ISP device plugged to DI-514 router? or Can I do without it? (If unplugged , will the utility icon show green in the systray?)
can the configuration be done without connecting the cable of my Isp unit to DI-514 router?

My ISP was giving me the assigned ip, submask, gateway and dns for me, must I have to change something in the configuration, replacing the data of the wireless pci adapter tcp/ip with ISP data? or is only deal of configuring the router by the web based configuration utility, configuring the wireless adapter and connect, or what?

In addition, I was reading the documentation about some problems with this router specifically the question "Why can't access the web base configuration for my D-link router, print server, or access point?"(documentation of product; and It's a little confused for me the step four; my pc is using as home computer and I am connected to Internet with an ISP, just that. Then, How am I using the DI-514 router? as D-link router or as Acess point? tell me please.

I connect the cable of my isp to normal network card and I have internet but I plug the cable to wireless router and it doesn't work :-(.

I will be waiting for your reply asap.

Thanks,

Here is what you normally have to do . Plug your pc with the wired nic into one of the router ports . Open you browser , somewhere in your router docs it should give you the address to plug into your browser url space , put that in and hit enter and this should take you into the router config utility on the router . Usually but not always you will set up the router for dhcp , the router will then pull an address from the isp . You will then set up your nic card for dhcp and it will then pull it's address from the router which will usually be in the 169.xxx.xxx.xxx space . Of course it you want to set up security on the router you need to pick an encryption method usually 128 WEP encryption on lowend home routers . This will have to be set the same on router and any wireless nic's you are running . You also might want to shut off broadcasting the SSID . You can also set up mac address filtering on the router so that only the wireless nics on your network can use the wireless portion . Look at your documentation on how to do this as every maker is different .

Connection should be
modem--->network port on wireless router)---->wired pc connections .
