Problems with Background Eraser in Paint Shop Pro V 9 1

Hi,
Sorry for posting what must be a simple question but I have a problem when I try to erase the white space around a company logo. I select the image and use the background eraser tool, and carefully erase all the white background between and around the text. I get the grey/white chequerboard pattern ok but after saving, the image remains as before. I still have the white background, please help anyone?

To which format are you saving the image to? You can only get transparency in either .pspimage (PSP's native format), .gif and .png. Other formats will convert the transparency to white.

Hi John,
Thank you kindly for that. I was trying to save as a .jpg.
I guess this comes under fundamental knowledge?, but it would certainly be helpful for this rule to be in the as apps "Help" files, Cheers TC
