We recently moved from ver 7 to ver 11.5 sp1 and we were having some issues so we went ahead and patched up to sp2 but to no avail we are still having issues.

1st the media was unable to be mounted, to fix this we have to do a quick erase every time we mount the media.

2nd and still happening we are getting a licensing error in our event viewer however our software is licensed and registered. When I look in the licensing window there is a list of components that we dont use that have unlicensed trial next to them the component we do use is licensed. How do remove the components we dont use or do I need to is the licensing error. All we have is local server backing up a database located on that server should be pretty simple no networking no agents.

Now the database engine stops when the backup tries to start.

My suspicion is all of this is related does anybody have any feedback?

This makes me think the problem might be with database corruption or integrity.

Did you start with a fresh DB when you upgraded? I can;t remember if this is possible when upgrading from 7 - 11.X

We are slowly getting the NUMEROUS problems worked out with R11.5 SP2. The biggest thing we did was go through everything possible and make sure all drivers and firmware are up to the latest version. We also re-installed Arcserve since we had upgraded and patched so many times. Also started with a fresh DB. A lot of our problems ended as we did each of these things.

We are down to the changer won't initialize when the tape engine is started. Everything comes up "marked blank media". We have to erase all the tapes in order to use them. I found that are firmware on the drives isn't up to date so we hope to remedy that next week. The library firmware itself is current. We have another site that is working properly and it is running a higher firmware version on the drives so we are hoping this will take care of our last KNOWN problem.

This appears to be a very touchy Arcserve release.
