Hey guys,

We seem to be having a problem with having multiple users accessing the Access database at the same time. I was wondering if anyone could provide some feedback on why this might be happening. Originally, there were clients on all the users' PCs but since we wanted to add users from different countries, it was put on the Citrix server. Are there any settings that have to be changed in order for multiple people to use this database?

The file that is on the server is an mdb file. Could this be the problem? Should it be converted to mde?

Thanks!

I believe your problem is with opportunistic file locking. I recommend you read up on this before just 'applying the patch', because this will affect all file access for all applications on the Terminal Server.

(ripped from 6. Disable Opportunistic Locking in NT, 2000 and XP

NT's Oppurtunistic Locking must be disabled. This is best done at the server by applying registry settings at the server. It can also be done at each client NT Workstation by applying the registry settings at the client. The client settings are really only necessary if access to the server is not possible.

Download NT-Server-OpLocks.reg for the Server or NT-Client-OpLocks.reg for the Clients.

Also, you can check out Tony Toews' page if you are further interested in research. I recommend his Access site in general, even if you aren't looking for something in particular. Below is a link to his terminal server notes page.
