I've got two ProLiant ML370 G2 servers that are NT BDCs in a Windows 2000 AD Mixed domain. These servers run Exchange 5.5.

As part of my migration path to Exchange 2000, I need to upgrade these servers to Windows 2000, and plan to DCPROMO them to member servers right after the upgrade. They're the last NT domain controllers, so after they're upgraded I can switch to Native Mode and move on with the Exchange migration.

I read on HP's support site about disabling the Event Notification driver (CPQCISSE.SYS) to prevent a bluescreen. Are there any other issues anyone is aware of? I want to make sure these upgrades go as smoothly as possible and that I don't lose our Exchange servers. Thanks!

I haven't done any upgrades of NT4 BDC's to W2K personally but I've done a lot of member servers and resource domain PDC's. - Although I used UPromote on the PDC's to convert them to member servers beforehand.

Anyway, I removed all Compaq insight agents etc. etc. that I could before I upgraded them and never had a problem.
The de-installation did not remove the advanced system management driver and W2K did complain about it being there. However it just deactivated it itself and ignored it.

Good luck.

Are the "etc. etc."s the rest of the Compaq system management programs, I assume?

Thanks for the insight. I'm much more confident about this upgrade.

Yes. Sorry, should have made that clear.
Also remove any backup agents, open file agents, diskeeper etc. etc. i.e. Get the system as clean as possible.

Well, I did the upgrade this past weekend, and aside from a few small software problems, it went as smoothly as I could have hoped. Thanks for your help!
