Problems to setup personal oracle 8i

First, I'm just starting with Oracle and my knowledge is really limited (even though I have passed the 1Z0-001 test), so my appologies if this is a too dumb question.

My problem is with setting up the network using net8. I'm installing PO 8.17 for nt/2000 on a windows ME. My intention is to have a stand alone DB for practicing for the 1Z0-023 test. The installation goes fine, but I don't know how to setup the server part (net8). It asks for domain what I don't have and found the Oracle documentation a little vague (at least for a beginner like me).
If someone had instructions that would help me with this I'd really appreciate.

the computer you are installing it on, is it connected to the network.

Are there any domain controllers ie PDC's BDC's. if so enter a domain name, else your machine is a standalone machine and can be a member of a workgroup.
