I'm trying to install the WMP54G wireless pci adapter in my sister-in-law's computer. I know her computer is old but it does meet the minimum system requirements. She's running a 400 megahertz AMD processor with 192 meg of RAM and Win XP pro. Each time I try to install the card it begins the installation, creates a restore point, installs the drivers in the system32 folder, but at this point it just freezes up. I've tried installing the card in safe mode but it does the same thing. She did have tons of spyware on it, but I removed it all with spybot S&D. I tried a selective startup without any of the startup group items but it still did the same thing. I've also tried running system file checker on her pc but it kept saying she didn't have the original XP cd. I'm just about out of ideas, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've tried suggesting that she just get a new computer but she's pretty stubborn and wants this one to work.

Are you installing the drivers from the CD or website? I am also guessing you uninstalled the card completely before reinstalling it...

I've been trying to install the drivers from the cd. And yes I did uninstall each time I tried reinstalling the driver. Is there an updated driver on the website?
