Hi Everyone,

We have had our exchange 2003 server as part of the Server SBS suite for 2 years and we have not had this problem before. The problem we are experencing is we can not send PDF attachments . This is only a problem with PDF and does not affect any other files. I can send a DOC file and any other type of file just not pdf. I can zip the file and it will send no problems. I have uninstalled our spam filter and antivirus application and still they do not send. I have created a new SMTP virtual server and tried again but still no joy. I did notice witht the new virtual server the emails were sent faster but still not send the email. I have used the various tools from Microsoft best pratice tools etc. They all say the server is fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Marshall

To whom? Is the message recieved missingthe attachment. or is the attachment blocked?

When you attach a file and send it over the internet, it gets MIME encoded. If you don't have a MIME type to file extention mapping associated with the file extention, it gets encoded application/octet-stream. Outlook and OWA security both block attachments encoded application/octet-stream. Have you checked your mappings?

Sorry the message gets stuck in the queue trying to connect to the mail provider and then returns a delay message and then a unable to send NDR with no reason other than to contact system admin.

Thanks,

Marshall

It also allows me to send some pdf files but for some reason not all of them. Could it be the version of Adobe the client is using? How do I configure the correct MIME for PDF. I do not see it as a default extension.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Marshall
