Hi

I'm trying to restore an old exchange 5.5 server (either an individual mailbox or the whole Information Store). I have imported the old tape back into the Database using scanner -i -S <ssid> <device> and can browse the backup tape using the Exchange client on the server to be restored, but when the restore job is started it just hangs, the Networker server shows MSEXCH:MB (or IS) browsing and the client just says Starting Restore. I have tried doing a restore using the command line with debug set to 5 and the restore stops at 'nsrxchrc: index_pconn got unexpected vers 6'.

Has anyone any idea what could be hanging the restore?

Many Thanks
Adam

What NetWorker version are you running in the backupserver
and client? This might be a bug in NetWorker 6.1.1 as reported by EMC in LGTpa32392. 6.1.2 and higher on the backup server is recommended in this case (altough i would suggest upgrading to 7.2.2 if you are still on 6.x)

What version of the Exchange module (NME) are you running on the client? If you are running 2.0-004 then upgrade to 2.0-005, as this might be a bug in NME 2.0-004 as reported by EMC in LGTpa31300/LGTpa32456.

Please note that it might take some time for NetWorker to build it´s list of files to be restored, so just leave it for a while and don´t break the operations just because you are getting this error.

Cheers!

Hi

Thanks for the information, The Networker server is 7.1.3 Build 404, The Exchange client is 2.0-006 (I've tried 2-0-005 as well).

I left the restore running for 24 hours with no activity (its a 12gb Information store Im trying to get back)

Regards
Adam
