When I try to force replication between my two domain controllers I am getting the following error:

"The following error occured during the attempt to synchronize naming context domain.local from domain controller DC1 to domain controller DC2: The RPC server is unavailable.

This operation will not continue.
This condition may be caused by a DNS lookup problem."

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Try installing the Support Tools for your version of the server and run dcdiag and netdiag.

I have installed Support Tools on Server 2003 and ran both of them. dcdiag confirmed that Replication is failing. Same errors as listed in original post. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Thanks!

RPC service started? Firewall blocking RPC (port 135)? Have you ever had succesful replication?

Does that error come in the logg?

There are basically 4 reasons for that error:

DNS problems
Time synchronization problem
RPC service is not running
Network connectivity problem

Thank you for all of your help...I did not have all of the necessary ports open on the firewall to allow replication between the DC's. The issue is now resolved. Thank you.
