i am trying to use AIX system V printing for network printing to HP laserjet printers. The printers print, but seem to be ignoring my "cpi" parameters i am trying to pass for "elite" or "compressed". any ideas?

Hi,
probably you are not using the most appropriate
an simplest way to print over a printer with a NIC.
What you are using (I think) is done to print on a
queue of a remote host. Install (if not already done)
the hpjetdirct sw from AIX CD(s); put the ip address of the
printer in /etc/hosts with a fantasy hostname, and when you add a queue (smitty spooler) don't choose "remote queue",
but hpjetdirect: give hostname previously choosed and leave
9100 as port number.
