I´ve installed Powershute on a novell server 4.11
BUT! when I run the application from a client it says
"no UPS" I have checked the wires...and there correct...
Why doesn´t it work...
(beginner at novell)

Thanx... JZII

You need to load the powerchute NLM that is found in the Sys:pwrchute (or something similar) directory. Make sure that you add the command "LOAD PWRCHUTE SYS:pWRCHUTE" (without the " ") to your autoexec.ncf so it will load automatically when rebooting.

Oh..no...powershute is loaded...but it can´t communicate with the UPS... JZII

What is the model of UPS you are using? Are you running WINCHUTE.EXE from your workstation? Can you see the server?
You keep spelling it "powershute" are you using PowerChute plus for Netware provided by American Power Conversion Corp? or some knock off called "powershute"?

I just started consulting for a company that uses an apc ups and Powershute. Today I got a call that their power had gone off briefly and the were getting the broadcast message that stated that the server was on battery and the system was going to shut down in 0.0 every minute or so. When I got on Paraschute I had to attach the server to the program and found out the computer was not on battery. When I attached the server, the broadcast messages on that computer stopped, but they continued on the other computers. Then, I unloaded and loaded paraschute on the server and the messages stopped on all the computers except one. This computer I installed an up-to-date client for NetWare on this computer and the messages stopped. My question is, is this problem common with Paraschute or could it had been a problem with the client because I found some documentation on Novell's website that repeated messages were a problem with earlier versions of the novell client.
