Hello, sorry if this has been raised before - I've had a look but not found anything *quite* the same.

I've got 4 dell servers. 3 have LTO2 drives and 1 has an LTO3 drive.

I'd like to restore data from one of the LTO2 tapes on the server that has the LTO3 drive.

I've had a look and the LTO3 should be able to read the LTO2 tape - which it seems able to do.

All the servers are running Arcserve 11.1 sp2

When I try to use the 'merge' function on the server with the LTO3 drive, it starts reading the tape (having sucessfully read the label) but it fails quickly with the following

Error 3801
3801 Invalid session header signature. (SIG=signature)

Has anyone experienced this before and come up with a solution.

The servers themselves are running 2003 std edition sp2

compatibility is not the issue, should work

try different things to see what works and what doesn't
try the merge on the ARCserve server that did the backup.
if that works try it on another LTO2 system
try a LTO2 tape from a different system on the LTO3
