I'm trying to install the Office XP Web Services Toolkit 2.0 for Office 2000 on a Windows 2000 machine. I carefully read the license agreement, run setup.exe, and get the error message "There was a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected." Duplicated the exact same error on another Windows 2000 machine and a Windows 98 machine all using Office 2000.

Went to a Windows XP machine (also running Office 2000) and the install worked without a problem.

Bit the bullet and read the ReadMe file. Readme says that Office Web Services Toolkit runs on, among other platforms, Windows 2000 (with certain requirements necessary which I meet). It also says that in order to install XP Web Services Toolkit 2.0, you need Windows Installer 2.0. Beneath was a note that Windows Installer 2.0 comes automatically with Windows XP.

Downloaded Windows Installer 2.0. When I run the install file, I get the message "The Specified Service Already Exists" on both Windows 2000 machines. Didn't try the Win98 machine. Still get the installer package error while trying to install the Web Services Toolkit.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any ideas, appreciate it.

I'm pretty sure that you need IIS (internet information services) installed on your 2000 and above systems... Is it installed?
