I bought a new PC that has Star Office installed. I wasn't bothered about this app as I have MS Office installed on other PC's and laptops in a small network. I therefore installed MS Office Professional 2003 on top.
However I can't get rid of Star Office as a file type. Even when I create a new word document and save it, it appears in the folders as a Star Office text document. This I could live with as when I open this document, there is no problems and it opens in MS Word.
Problem is I use Act!6.0 and when I try to install this s/w to this new PC, it does not recognise MS Outlook 2003 as a valid email program that can be merged into Act's capabilities. This I can't live with.
I have changed the .doc file type to MS Word and other file extensions to default to their respective Microsoft counterparts, but this does not solve the above. Any ideas... I wanted to avoid removing Star Office completely because the PC was bought pre-loaded and I would like to keep this functionality for assessment over the next year..
Any ideas...?
