Problems in C# .NET standard installation..help!!

i have tried n number of times to install the Visual C# .NET standard version that i have received with a book that i bought, but everytime at the end of the installation process (CD no.3) i get this message-- Setup Failed -- and here is the error log

in trying to solve it i have done the following
- installed Windows XP Service Pack 1(both express install and the 134 mb network install)
- installed MDAC within the Windows SDK

plz help asap.
