I downloaded the Apache pre-compiled binaries from Apache.org (the binary name was apache.1.3.27ppc-whatever)

I successfully installed the binaries, but when i tried to get it up and started theres a problem

(my syntax from the /bin directory) ./apachectl start

the error says as follows: ./apachectl : /usr/local/apache/bin httpd: cannot execute binary file

./apachectl start: httpd could not be started

Is there something in the httpd.conf file that i need to fix to get apache up and started.

Thank-You

It sounds to me as if you downloaded the wrong binaries, or your OS don't have support for the binary format they were compiled to.

I was thinking the same exact thing //Daniel. I remember a while back downloading the binaries and getting the same errors, then downloading different binaries and working. I just don't remember which ones.

Guess i'll have to try em all until they work.

Thanks for you input //Daniel. I'm kinda new to Apache so don't be suprised if you see my posts up here more than a few times
