I having real problem formating a firewire drive so I can digitize DV footage onto it that I can use on both my Powerbook at home and the XP pro Xenon I'm currently using at work. I know I need to format it as Fat 32 (unless someone has a better solution) but I'm having trouble doing it in XP Pro and to my amazment I'm finding it imossible to do in either OS 10.2.3 or 9,2.

Sometimes I can erase it using an ms dos format in OS X but that option seems to disapear sometimes to my utter bafflement. But I can't format or write to this drive when I do manage to erase itas ms dos format.

Can anybody please help as it's really holding me up and driving me potty.

Search the OSX section of versiontracker.com for a program to do this. I have used it once to force format FAT32 but forgot the name of it.

A better solution?... How about formatting as Mac HFS Extended and use a program like MacOpener on the PC?
