I recently upgraded from 5.1.1 to 6.1.1 and now my syslog isn't working anymore. The syslog collection agent has exactly the same config it had before, so I'm sure the problem is on the PIX. When I 'show logging' I see the following:
-----------------------
Syslog logging: disabled
Timestamp logging: enabled
Standby logging: disabled
Console logging: disabled
Monitor logging: level notifications, 0 messages logged
Buffer logging: level errors, 0 messages logged
Trap logging: level informational, facility 20, 0 messages logged
Logging to inside 192.168.2.177
Logging to inside 152.31.1.99
History logging: disabled
-----------------------
Here are the logging entries in my config:
logging timestamp
logging monitor notifications
logging buffered errors
logging trap informational
logging queue 1024
logging host inside 192.168.2.177
logging host inside 152.31.1.99
no logging message 106015
no logging message 106007
no logging message 305005
no logging message 305003
no logging message 305002
no logging message 402101
no logging message 302010
no logging message 302002
no logging message 302001
no logging message 302006
no logging message 302005
and SNMP entries
snmp-server host inside 192.168.2.177
snmp-server host inside 152.31.1.99
snmp-server location Narnia
snmp-server contact ShackDaddy
snmp-server community ROSWELL
snmp-server enable traps
I tried to add the statement 'logging facility 20' but although it didn't cause an error, it never showed up in the config. Also, when I run a packet sniffer on my log collector (192.168.2.177) I get no syslog traffic from the PIX to speak of.
Can someone tell what I'm missing here? What do I need to do to get that 'syslog' setting set to 'enabled'?
