here's my problem.
i have a pdf file that i am editing in foxpro.
i don't even have to change anything in the file but as soon as i save it i start to get errors when i open it in accrobat. is there an editor out there that i could use that is not going to damage the pdf? or possibly some documentation on writing pdf's by hand. i have the codes but the info i have is sparse at best. do any of you write pdf's by hand? any help would be great.

You can download the PDF spec from Adobe's site. It's very complex, prepare to study.

In short, a PDF is a series of objects, which can contain references to other objects, keys, and dictionary structures.

Every PDF also contains an xref section, which lists the byte offsets of every object.

So when you edit a PDF by hand, you are changing the byte offsets, thus corrupting the file.

That's what Acrobat is correcting when you open the PDF.
