Problems detecting modem

Windows xp machine. It's not detecting the modem. I have driver CD for it but when i load CD and gets to the stage where its supposed to list the components u want to install well there is nothing there completly blank strange i know. I haven't a clue what the modem name is or nothing. What do i do.

So are you simply having a problem installing the drivers? Or does the os not see the device. First time you booted, after you installed the modem, did windows attempt to install drivers for the device? Does it show at all in device manager, or are any devices in device manager that have a ? or ! next to them?

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
