Have a client that has a peculiar problem. He did a test restore of his backup to another drive on their server. The server OS is MS 2003 SBS.

The files restored to the temp drive were all marked as read only. Files could not be deleted from his workstation logged under his account. I checled and his account is a member of all admin groups. On the server itself though there is no issue with deleting the files

Now the weird thing was, if on the server I create a directory, and then just a text file, I can not delete them.
I get the error indicating either the file is in use or that I do not have permissions.

We did restore a file to the original drive and had no problems deleting it from the network. Also, files marked as read only can be deleted through the network on the original files drive (just not the temp drive).

Also, files and directories on this temp drive are all marked read-only. When I select to have them un marked as such, this does not change them at all, the files will still be read only once I exit the properties box.

I have checked the permissions and full control is granted for admins and the users, so it does not appear that file permissions per se are the cause.

Any ideas on what is causing this?
