Problems debugging VBA Code

I'm in the process of debugging VBA code behind a form in an Access 2000 Project. All of sudden I have lost the ability to view values of controls and variables when 'hovering' over them with the mouse cursor when stepping thru my code (F8). When this has happened before, I was able to get around this problem by simply exiting and restarting Access. But this time, no dice. My back up copy of the db works OK and all my references are OK. Also, everyting complies OK, too. Anyone have any ideas on what's causing this problem? Thanks for your help.

From a VBA editor window, click Tools, Options, Editor. Check "Auto Data Tips" is checked.
