Problems creating VG

Trying to create a volume group and here is what I get:

Trying to use hdisk3

hdisk3 Available 14-08-01 Other FC SCSI Disk Drive
# lspv hdisk3
0516-320 : Physical volume 0000000000000000 is not assigned to a volume group.

Using smitty to create a VG

0516-1254 mkvg: Changing the PVID in the ODM.
Method error (/usr/lib/methods/chgdisk):
0514-047 Cannot access a device.

0516-1207 mkvg: An invalid physical volume ID been detected on hdisk3.
0516-862 mkvg: Unable to create volume group.

# chdev -l hdisk3 -a pvid=yes
Method error (/usr/lib/methods/chgdisk):
0514-018 The values specified for the following attributes are not valid: pvid Physical volume identifier

try chpv -c hdisk3 and then try to bring it into a VG.

If that doesn't work, then do 'rm -dl hdisk3' then 'cfgmgr' and see if the disk is having problems being configured.
