I have one hard drive, hdisk11, that is not assigned to any volume group. When trying to create a new volume group I am getting the following error:

0516-1254 mkvg: Changing the PVID in the ODM.
0516-1207 mkvg: An invalid physical volume ID been detected on hdisk11.
0516-862 mkvg: Unable to create volume group.

This is the output of the "lspv" command:

hdisk0 000f31fde77a8d2d rootvg
hdisk1 000f31fd8759ea51 rootvg
hdisk3 000023038ec313d4 uservg
hdisk4 00002303fd26bca5 uservg
hdisk5 0004694720804174 uservg
hdisk6 0004694720804db9 uservg
hdisk7 00046947208059c1 uservg
hdisk8 00046947208065b7 uservg
hdisk9 000023035317b503 uservg
hdisk10 000023035317d724 uservg
hdisk2 000f31fdf90f08de udvg
hdisk11 000f31fdf8630d68 None

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Try doing this:

chpv -l hdisk11 pv=clear

If that fails to correct the problem then you may want to use `odmget` and look for the PVID in the ODM and then remove it with `odmdelete` . Make sure you have a backup of your ODM if you are going to delete entries in case it causes problems with the removed entry (though it shouldn't).

It seems the ODM may have an issue and already thinks the PVID for hdisk11 is being used.

Thank you very much!

I am able to create my volume group now.
