No matter whether I use the 'Print to Distiller' or 'Save as PDF' functions from Coreldraw V8, some fonts are not retained, even though I have set Distiller's job options to embed all fonts and subset to 100%. I have quite a lot of experience (and success) creating PDFs from Pagemaker, Photoshop and Illustrator and even Word and Excel, but cannot do it from Coreldraw. Any one else have similar problems and/or can suggest a fix?

Do not use Corel. If you have Illustrator, stop using Corel. Corel does bizarre things to postscript.

Other ideas:
1) Try to 'outline fonts' or 'convert to path' your type in Corel to ensure that the fonts are transferred to PDF. This will bloat your file size but the text should come through with the correct font style.

2) Try to open the CDR file in Illustrator, clean it up, then export to PDF.

3) Update to the latest CorelDRAW.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have recently commenced a new job where my predecessor used Coreldraw almost exclusively - even though she had access to Pagemaker, she still did all her layouts in CD (with embeded graphics). They do not possess a copy of Illustrator. My goal is to recreate in PM some of the documents now in CD, but some of them are incredibly complex, I have no idea where the original graphics files are (and only recently learned how to extract them from the CD file), and even when I find them, cannot locate unedited versions of many so I can get rid of some of the awful 'effects' she has applied in Photoshop prior to placing them in CD. So there are a multitude of problems. And I am feeling a little overwhelmed because there isn't enough time to recreate these layouts even if I could access all the graphics used. Which is why I am having to work with the CD files and get them to PDF. But I will heed your advice to convert all text to outlines and have another try.
