I've been trying to figure out how to convert my Word 2000 docs to PDF files thru the Distiller by printing to the Distiller. When I try, I get the message that the conversion failed due to printer problems; check the printer settings or re-install the distiller print driver. Well, I know the Distiller print driver works because I can convert from PM7 to PDF using the driver. I've checked all the printer settings and everything appears to be in order. Are there any settings in Distiller or Word I could have missed?

AND, my Word desktop shows two icons on the toolbar; "Convert to Adobe PDF and Convert to Adobe PDF and Email". When I click either one of these icons, nothing happens. Does anyone know anything about them and the PDF Maker 5.0 that they can share or a site they can direct me to? I've searched both the MS and Adobe sites and found nothing. Thanx![peace]

Bill,
Thank you for your post. I followed Adobe's directions only to find that my Server Properties were set up correctly and "File" is an available port.

I think I will have to have my IT dept. reinstall Acrobat to re-establish the links from Acrobat to Word. I will post my results back here as a follow-up.

I FOUND THE ANSWER! It doesn't require reinstalling Acrobat. It does require NOT using PDF Maker found in Word 2000 (which is a macro installed by Acrobat at setup).
This site has easy to follow instructions for printing a Word .doc to a PDF thru Acrobat Distiller (provided you have a Postscript printer).
