Hi
I'm Using Crystal Reports 8.5 and SQL Server 2005. I'm trying to connect to the dB using an ODBC Connection. This is how I do that...

I go to

Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> ODBC and then under the User DSN tab I click on the add button and add the SQL Server Driver and click on finish.

Once I do that it gives me a dialog box which says Create New Data Source to SQL Server I give it a name and select the Server...

Here comes my questions..

Now when I click next it gives me an option

Change the default database to....
1. do I keep this as master or select my database????

Once I select the database and proceed futher and test the connection it is successful.

What do I do next...I mean from the Crystal Reports...I dont see the opiton Database expert, in my version of Crystal Report under Database menu....

Please help me....and your help is appreciated..

To answer 1, i'm not sure. i would go with keep it as master, but if anyone else has better info, speak up.

In crystal, start the report wizard, then choose the folder that says "create new connection", then to ODBC, then pick your DB. I recommend using the Wizard for a while, it is really helpful.

Hey let me be more specific, I'm using Crystal Reports 8.5 and there are no such options in that. Whenever I open the report wizard it does not have the Database Expert in the first instance and it also does not have the Create New Report. what do I do now???

In one of your top tool bars, do you have a Database dropdown? Go to "set datasource location" and browse/search for you DB. Otherwise look for something called a Data Explorer.
