We have referred our problem to our carrier, they have looked into the issue with the under lying carrier. We recieve a fast busy when dialing a number we formerly have been using for several years without issue. Our carrier claims we are not sending our CID correctly, however we can connect to another 866 number with the same vendor. We can reach various 800, 877 and other 866 number without a problem. The PBX has been power cycled twice with the same negative results.

If we dial the 866 in question from a cell it will connect we cannot connect from phones inside our PBX.

Thanks for any insight we have been dealing with this issue for 6 days.

Ok so power cycling an IPS can have major consequences as the running memory is not necessarily the same as the stored memory as it is stored in flash rom and if a save hasn't been done, then you go back to the last time it was saved . This is probably where your problem stems from, there was possibly a change applied at some time in the past to allow these calls but it was never saved to flash and then some time later a power flick causes a reload and you can no longer do what you could before! This is similar to the Cisco problem where running memory does not get saved to startup memory and a power flick can cause all kinds of problems. This can be a complicated problem to deal with so I have to ask if you are up to this or would you be best calling in a tech?

This could easily be a problem with LCR or as your carrier intimated, it could be a CID problem (I personally doubt this but I'm In OZ so I can't swear to how your carrier works). If you want us to try to help we will but I would suggest visiting the FAQs for this forum and checking out FAQs on LCR first.

Unless somebody changed it, the memory is automatically saved to flash every night at 2AM at default. My belief is that it's your carrier. I have seen this before. Carriers change their routing and sometimes miss a set up that affects your system. A cell phone uses different carrier services and therefore would probably work.

I think your defaults may be different to ours, I did a reset on an IPS and the ring pattern changed. It had been set to a non default pattern over a year before but the flash had never been backed up. I still have nightmares over that one!

I tend to agree though that it is probably a carrier fault but getting in a tech with the gear to fix/prove something like this will be problematical (especially if the OP has ISDN lines) unless the carrier is willing to get involved and having denied responsibility, I doubt they will be too helpful.

That may be true for systems outside of the US. If commands 434, 435 exist, then maybe they can be set up for automatic back up to flash. If you have a PRI tester or access to one that may be the only way to test out 866 and prove it to be a carrier issue.
