Hi,

I've just installed Interbase on my system, but am have problems connecting to it. The error message is:

"interbase.interclient.IBException: Could not connect to server localhost. Connection refused: connect"

I'm using Version 1.0.0.315 of InterBase and using the "interbase.interclient.Driver" driver, whilst connecting as SYSDBA.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? I can also post the stack dump if anyone thinks that it'll be useful.

Cheers,

Tim Christopher

Version 1.0.0.315 ?

Did the Interbase Server started? Check the Interbase Manager in the Control Panel

Ooops... Make that V6.0 - the IBConsole is V1.0...

Yes, the interbase server is running. I think the problem was being caused by Norton blocking access to the port - however I now get the following error message:

interbase.interclient.IBException: [interclient][interbase]connection rejected by remote interface

Any ideas?

I think that the Interclient works together with Java. The Interbase Client is used by every program that connects to the Server. Can you run the IBconsole program? If you are running this for the first time, you have to register your Server. Then you can provide the option Local or Remote Server

Everything runs fine through the IBConsole, both localhost and selecting the remote host as localhost.

The problem I'm having is when I try and connect using the database browsers that are supplied with IDEs - when trying to connect the server is running, the Interclient driver is set, as is the username (SYSDBA) and password.

I've currently given up and am using a JDataStore in the mean time, however I'd still like to fixed this problem properly soon.... Assuming I can find out how.
