I have a 100ST Media converter that I'm connecting to a 3COM 3c17304 Gbic fiber module in port 27. Everything links but DHCP won't work and if I set up my laptop as a static it won't work either. No filtering or mac/ip specific programming is done on the switch according to the customer's IT guy. Fiber Gbic set to auto-negotiating but still no luck. DHCP works fine if I plug my laptop into one of the copper ports.
Any suggestions? Was thinking about getting another MC and using a standard port to start the circuit convert to fiber to the other building since they don't want to put out the money for another switch at the other building and then connect the 2nd media converter.
Probably something simple I'm overlooking.
