Hi All;I have a windows xp pro machine, has 1 harddisk and a cd rom on primary, and 1 cd rom on secondary..The drive on the primary is master,I upluged the cdrom and put a new harddisk on the slave side of the primary channel, and configured the drive as slave,,I boot the computer it see's both drives at post, continues into windows, then comes up blue screen of death with (Paged fault in non paged area)?? How can I fix this??Does the same in safe mode..Please Help A.S.A.P.Thankyou

Is the new drive definitely ok (eg, can you connect it to another machine to check - or run drive manufacturer's diagnostic - usually available from their website)? Does the main drive need a different jumper setting when there's a slave hard drive present (though I'd have expected it to need it for slave CD too)?

If the drive is ok, what happens if you connect it to the secondary controller instead (try with no CD ROM drives connected as well).

ok.you got it,it was a different jumper setting on the master drive of this Ibm thing, plus the main drive was about to die.scraping sound ect.Caught it in time and ghosted all over to new maxtor.Man lucky, run's ok and clone was completed.Thanks.
