Hi,

I have installed Outlook 2007, and quite some times I close Outlook normally, but on the next time I open it I got a message saying that Outlook was not closed properly and if I want to start it in safe mode.
Besides that, one time I closed outlook but 2 minutes later I saw the little popup saying I was receiving a new e-mail.
Has anyone ever faced this problem?

Thanks.

Yes, all the time.

When you shut down outlook it may look like it's gone but many processes can still be active. Being short on memory and addon activity - particularly email virus/spam scanners or send/receive sessions still in progress - may go on for some time after Outlook has apparently shut down. The send/receive progress box often disappears long before receiving is complete due to email scanning.

Low real vs virtual memory situations make the problem much worse, and disk-intensive processes such as system virus scans going on at shutdown time can also do this, as can a slow or congested network connection or mail server.

Running large local pst files (over 1gig) seems to add to the problem.

Try disabling your email scanner as a test.
Disable hibernation.
Throw memory at it.

When shutting down, do a send/receive, wait a minute and then shut down Outlook. Then wait 2 more minutes before logging off or shutting down the system.

My outlook file is 5 Gb so I think that's not really helping.
