Hey,

a colleague of mine has an annoying excel-issue.

She saved an excelfile on her desktop and took it home with her, to finish it in the evening.
She did some extensive work on it, but when she returns to work the next day... the file won't open anymore.

Well, it opens but gives this error Problems came up in the following areas during load
Missing file: path\filename\sheet001.htm
Missing file: path\filename\sheet002.htm
Missing file: path\filename\sheet003.htm
...

and so forth for every tab in the workbook.

Has anyone else ever come across such a strange thing, and is there a way to "save" the file?

I fear for it, since it decreased dramatically in size as well... but perhaps someone has a magic cure?

Thanks

Hi,

"She saved an excelfile on her desktop and took it home with her, to finish it in the evening."

She has a laptop, so the desktop went with her when she took her laptop home with her?

The windows desktop, you know like C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop :)

Anyway, I've found out the problem this morning!

It was saved as an htm-file (with extension xls... how strange is that)

It was a file she downloaded from a specific customer-site. It automatically also created a folder, where all those htm-files where stored
She deleted that, unknowing that it was needed, but luckily I could rescue the folder from her trash!

Grtz
