I work in a school and one of the children totaly messed up a pc. It was running windows 95 until i re-formated it today. I was trying to re-instal win 95 but during instalation it says i only have 2MB of space avalible on drive C:\. I used dos and found that there were two drives a C and a D and the C drive did only have 2MB assigned to it. How do i put this back to one drive as there is only one hard drive, so that i can install win 95.

Thanks in advance for your help

I doubt the kid created a partition and moved stuff around to that degree. Have you tried booting from D: like typing Win at the D: prompt? Do any of the other computers have two drive like this one?

Its possible the HD FAT table is crashed and your boot disk has made a 2MB RAMDISK for use with the disk tools like FDISK and such. Check the BIOS settings for the HD to be sure they didn't get reset, and run FDISK to verify that the HD is accessable and has the partition setup that you want...

Fdisk will not see ramdisks. Just delete the partitions and repartition it the way you want. It could be a scrambled partition table but that really doesn't make any difference as long as the disk is sound, and there's only one way, short of having the manufacturer test it, and you know what that is, don't you.The only other explaination is that you have a disk overlay program installed, like from on-track. They are used for LBA in older drives without an EIDE aware BIOS. In that case install to the d: and don't sweat it. It's not a real drive partition and Windows will ignore it. Don Swayser
