Hello out there,

We just upgraded to from 5.1 to 6.0 and a couple of odd issues have shown up:

1) Timesync is inconsistent - server time will be very different from actual. Unloading and reloading timesync causes it to reset to correct actual time; however, by then all user's local PC times are off until relogin.

2) Using BackupExec 8.5, the program cannot "see" any of the drives so cannot schedule or perform backups yet.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, jg

Use an IP address to set your timesource, NW 6 likes it better. Also check timesource and timeserver type.

For arcserve, we have to be sure that CANWPA (device driver)is loaded, along with TSA500. BackupExec probably has similar needs. Check for required and updated drivers.

backup exec 8.5 is not supported for Netware 6. Upgrade to version 9. Also, download the sms updates for netware 6. The drives you cannot see, are they the tape devices? If so are they on the supported device list? Have you deleted nwtape from c:\nwserver? Lee Smith
