Hi,

we have a problem in that users cannot access outlook ( 2000 ) via an SSL VPN

A little background..

we have a windows 2000 ( was sp3 but not sp4 ) server running exchange server 2000 sp3

everthing was fine, but we were infected with the conficker virus a few weeks ago.

I installed SP4 and also the microsoft patch for the vunerability.

Since then when users dial in through our VPN and access Outlook they get a username and password box, if we put in the correct name, it says its incorrect, I've even tried with the domain admin password, but still it says its incorrect

if the user is in the office then they can access Outlook fine, no problems.

I'm a member of the exchange admin group and I can use outlook through the VPN with no problems.

It looks to me like a permission thing, or the update has changed them somehow??

Does anyone know what might have caused this and also how to rectify it?

Thanks in advance,

Mick.

have you tried using the following format, as per OWA:

domain\username

Hi
Thanks for your replies...
We have solved this issue, it looks like a subsequent windows update has fixed the problem.. while troubleshooting this issue I noticed there were 9 or 10 updates that hadn't been applied, after these were installed and a reboot users were able to access their emails via the ssl vpn, I'm not sure what update solved this, I'm just glad on of them did.

Thanks again for your replies.

Mick.
