Just an FYI, but I'm new to this system.

Having problem accessing and programming phones. I’m trying to program keys on a phone and I’m able to add them, but when I go the save it I get “PASSWORD RESTRICTION” and “MAT ACCESS DENIED FOR SOFTWARE PROTECTION”. Even when I’m in the station command page and insert a number or feature (AKYD) I get “MAT ACCESS DENIED FOR SOFTWARE PROTECTION”. I've also been told that I need to access "SMSP" to change MAT access condition but not getting past the maintenance command window.

You must have the older ICS system which used a software key (donggle) installed on a serial cable. Check to see if it is still plugged in securely. You will get locked out of the MAT if the key is not seen or if it has been damaged. They can no longer be replaced. You can try a system reboot to get temporary access, but it will not last. There is a small program that can be used to release it. It was never released to the general public. Repost if you still have access denied. I may be able to locate the program. It's been a long time since I used it.

When I ran into that I had luck resetting the IO card. This got me back in.
It probably forced it to go out and re-read the dongle.
As for SMSP, there are some pretty specific steps that must be followed to use it.
