problem working with floppy disk in Win2000 Prof

My floppy drive does not work properly in Win2000 Prof. After inserting diskette into it the system freezes. Nevertheless I can use FDD when working in Safe Mode.
Recalling the first time it happened, I think it could be after renewing driver of my sound card Aurial Vortex.

Check your cabling just in case, but try removing the floppy drive in safe mode and reinstalling it.
