At the desktop when I highlight an icon then right click on it, an error window appears and the desktop disappears and reloads.
I cannot move, copy or delete a desktop icon. I have deleted exploere.exe and replaced the file several times. This process seem to work only once and it reverts back.

I have scaned the computer for viruses and spyware several times with no problems.

Has anyone ever encounter this problem?

Any suggestions and /or comments are greatly appreciated

thank you

Put your system disc in, close whatever window it loads. Go to command prompt and type sfc/scannow. See if that fixes it. Also did you build this computer yourself? If so did you check compatibility with ram and motherboard?

Some history on this would be useful (like any changes to hardware/software you've made, any crashes etc)

Have you scaneed with several anti-spyware apps - there isn't one that I'm aware of that finds everything (I'd run spybot, adaware, MS antispyware and hijackthis if you feel confident to deal with its output).

Have you looked in event log for clues? (run eventvwr.msc)

Run chkdsk /f?
