hi evrybody, i don't know too much about networking, and i want to create a web site for myself, but i want to own my web site domain, obvisuly i don't have a server so i will use an isp hosting, obviusly i don't want that the isp helps me to obtain the domain because later when i want to change isp they will charge for the administrative costs of obtaining my domain, so where i can obtain a domain, and own it.
thanks in advance

Buy your domain at verisign.com or any other supplier. 29$ a year I think.

Then install the BIND package. I dont know your distrib. Configure it and put your ipadress in your registration form as a nameserver1 and nameserver2. You can use webmin its easier than editing named.conf and domain.zone.

that's it. Hope this help.

But you want an ISP. Ask the ISP for their nameserver adress and they'll charge your for the administrative task. they have to create a zone for your domain. but you are the owner.

that's it. Hope this help.
