Has anyone else had this problem: I recently upgraded from Win 98 to Win 2000. I installed Instructor 9.0 and the 9.01 and 9.02 upgrades. When I open Illustrator, the cursor flickers, as though something is interfering in the background. (I've tried turning off as many background programs as possible, but that doesn't help.) When I click on the "File" option, my cursor turns into an hour glass. Then, if I open a New document, for example, the cursor keeps flickering back and forth between being an arrow and an hour glass.

I'm thinking I should try reinstalling Instructor, and see what that does. Any other suggestions?

First try re-installing illustrator and then the patches. If that doesnt work, download the latest service packs from microsoft.com. You should have the latest service pack anyway

Jaquan,

Thanks for the tip, but I'd already taken those steps. It turns out the answer was actually (One of those rare times.) in the Adobe Support Knowledgebase of issues for Illustrator. To fix it, I just needed to add a line to the exclusions list in the Norton Protected Recycle bin. Anyone having the same problem, search for "Hourglass Cursor Appears Regularly" in the Adobe Support Knowledgebase.
