problem with the printer system

I am trying to install a new remote printer in a SCO OPEN SERVER 5.0.4. But, as soon as I type "mkdev lp" the system says "unable to get allowed / denied form users"

Can I help me, what should I do?

/usr/spool/lp/admins/lp/printers/<printer name>/users.allow.


I can't say I've ever seen that, but I'd start by checking
/usr/spool/lp/admins/lp/printers/*/users.allow and users.deny for proper permissions, garbage in them, etc.
