Problem with Text in Illustrator 7.0

When I try to use the text tool in illustrator, it does not work. :-( I've tried re-installing several times, but that didn't make any difference. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Thanks a bunch!

hey there, i had this exact same problem when i used to use version 7. You need to download the 7.01 update from somewhere. This fixes the problem.
