Problem with Style while creating a drop down menu

I'm using Fireworks MX 7.02.295 and I'm having a problem while creating a menu that has a number of drop down menus. For some reason when I chose to create these as an image (under the Appearance menu) the style in the bottom box is empty and I can only create these as an HTML menu. Any ideas ???
