here's the setup
machine a nt4 sp6a
10.4.0.11 / 192.168.1.2 (gateway 10.4.0.1)
machine b nt4 sp6a
192.168.1.1 / 192.168.100.12 (gateway 192.168.100.1)

the 192.168.1.x interfaces are directly connected with a crossover cable.

on this lan is a number of 3com office builder isdn / lan
modems. ips 192.168.100.3/4/5 etc

static routes were added to the various other destinations.

from machine b I can ping everywhere including the 3com boxes and stuff on the 10.4.0.x lan

from machine a I can ping everything on the 192.168.100.x lan EXCEPT for the 3com boxes. Anyone got any bright ideas?

Sounds like a problem with the 3Coms - if you can add static routes put in a static to 192.168.1.x via 192.168.100.12.. if you need to see 10.4.x.x do the same for the 10.4.x.x network.
