Problem with Startup form

I have a form that I want to open on startup. I entered the name in startup and unchecked display database window. Works fine once but then the next time it goes straight to the database window. Very odd.

I frequently have this problem too. I have an autoexec macro running startup code. If I close the database (but remain in Access) then open it up again the autoexec doesn't seem to work. If I close again and reopen then it works fine. In other words, the autoexec works every other time. If I close Access completely then it always works fine.

Could this be something to do with global variables not being reset properly?
