problem with sleep button

What wakeup condition have you defined in your BIOS settings ?
Additionally, it is not always a good idea to go "whoops" and try wake-up immediately. Most of the time, the system is still going to sleep in the first minute. If you try a wake-up, its needs will conflict with the go-to-sleep mode and your PC will just lie there dead for ages.
Wait two or three minutes before doing the wake-up.
That said, I never let my PC go to sleep. Either its working, or its off. This whole sleep/wake up stuff has failed entirely too often for me to trust it any more.
