I just bought a new Sony Digital8 video camera. It seems to be working fine. I installed all the drivers and the software that came with it. (I have Win98SE)
The USB streaming works. I can see the video picture on my PC just fine, along with the sound, but -
I can't capture and record video - if I try. the picture software (Image Mixer Ver1.5 for Sony) crashes.
This may be because my PC is a Pentium III 733 MHz. The Sony manual says the system requirement is a P3, 500MHz, but 800 Mhz or higher is reccommended. Can it be that my PC is too slow for recording video, or is it the software? I really don't feel like buying a new computer just because of this. Does anyone know of any software (preferably freeware) or any other way to get around this?

I don't believe it is your computer. I work in a school district and I have used a PII and recorded video and audio. It took a while to render the video, but as long as there was hard drive space it worked fine. Ulead has a try before you buy option - video studio - that lasts for 30 days. It is fairly inexpensive for video capture software.
